Explore Jordan with your DofE Groups following parts of the Jordan Trail including the Ancient City of Petra, one of the new 7 Wonders of the World and Wadi Rum.
The following itinerary is based on a 6 night/7 day itinerary for a Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award Exploration. Including Practice and Qualifying Venture!

Day 1: Upon arrival to Queen Alia International Airport, meet your GET team and transfer to your first night tourism camp in Wadi Rum (approximately 3 hrs) Mazayen Camp. Depending on your flight time, there may be time for some ice-breaker activities. Dinner and overnight. (D) |
Day 2: After breakfast, the group will begin their practice Exploration, trekking through the Aldisa area visiting various famous landmarks throughout the day: Siq Abu Awad, Wadi Albara, Lawrence house and the Nfashaiah inscriptions. Reach your campsite for the night behind Um Ashrin. Pitch tents and practice your camp-craft. (Lunch & dinner prepaid by students) – 6-7hrs/14kms. (B) |
Day 3: After breakfast continue with you hike around Khazali area, to the small bridge, Lawrence Spring and then back to Rum village. Return to Mazayen camp for a final night in Wadi Rum. 6hrs/12kms (D) |
Day 4: Rest day as the group transfers to Shoubak where they will explore the medieval Shoubak Castle. Continue to the Petra area for a night in a bedouin camp for dinner and overnight. The camp will be close to the start for the qualifying exploration. (B/L/D) |
Day 5: After breakfast, the group will start their qualifying Exploration, trekking from the camp along the Alfarsh trail behind Petra mountains. There are views of Araba and Jabal Garon. Picnic lunch on the mountain. Continue with the hike to Little Petra to reach you camp area at Alshamaseh. Camping and dinner. 7-8hrs/15kms |
Day 6: This morning, the group will begin the second day of the qualifying exploration as they hike through Little Petra, on the back trail to the famous Monastery of Petra. Continue down the carved-out steps in the mountain to the low trail and hike back along Roman Street. From this point on the students will have the opportunity to explore the sites of Petra: Royal Tombs, Amphitheatre, Treasury, and much more. The final part of the day will lead the group through the Siq to the main gate and visitor centre. Transfer to your camp for overnight. 6-7hrs (distance may vary) |
Day 7: After breakfast, begin the final day of the qualifying exploration. The group will hike from the main gate and follow the Almadras trail (secret trail) to the High Place of Sacrifice for stunning views of the Negev Desert and Wadi Araba. Continue down Wadi Ferasa to the Bazin area and hike back to the main gate to finish your qualifying Exploration. Congratulations!! Meet your coach and transfer to the airport for departure. 5-6hrs/11kms. |
