Cambodia allows students to engage deeply with local communities through service projects while working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Alongside this, they experience the country’s unique cultural heritage.
Cambodia Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – Gold Expedition
Where ancient temples meet the challenge of your DofE Gold journey.
This itinerary combines the unique cultural heritage of Cambodia with the adventure and endurance of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. Students will balance practice and qualifying ventures with immersive cultural experiences – from exploring Angkor Wat to cycling through rural countryside and climbing Kulen Mountain. The programme ensures all award requirements are met while offering an unforgettable glimpse into Cambodia’s history, traditions, and landscapes.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival Siem Reap, transfer to hotel, welcome dinner.
Day 2 – Practice cycle around Angkor Wat and major temples (~30km), evening Apsara show.
Day 3 – Rest day – Artisan D’Angkor, War Museum, market & Pub Street.
Day 4 – Qualifying venture begins – hike up Kulen Mountain, waterfalls & Reclining Buddha.
Day 5 – Cycle from Siem Reap to Battambang via Western Barray & backroads, overnight in Battambang.
Day 6 – Cycle Battambang to Pursat, visit Bamboo Train & Banan Temple, overnight Pursat.
Day 7 – Final cycle to Phnom Penh, celebratory dinner, overnight at 5* hotel.
Day 8 – Visit Killing Fields, flight home.

Combine meaningful CAS service with adventurous cycling through Cambodia’s temples, villages, and history.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival Phnom Penh
Meet your GET team, transfer to hotel for check-in and welcome dinner.
Day 2 – Phnom Penh History & Culture
Visit the Killing Fields, Genocide Museum (S21), and Russian Market before dinner.
Day 3 – CAS Project Day 1
Begin your CAS service on Widow Island. Evening visit to Aeon Mall.
Day 4 – CAS Project Day 2
Full day service project with local community.
Day 5 – CAS Project Day 3
Final day of CAS project. Evening celebration dinner in Phnom Penh.
Day 6 – Transfer to Siem Reap
Flight to Siem Reap, visits to Wat Por market, Phnom Krom Hill community, rice fields & lotus pond. Bike briefing and checks.
Day 7 – Cycling Day 1
Ride the Grand Circuit Temples (40km) including Pre Rup, Ta Som, Neak Pean, and Preah Khan.
Day 8 – Cycling Day 2
Cycle through rural villages to Banteay Srei and visit the Landmine Museum.
Day 9 – Cycling Day 3
Explore Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, and Kravan Temple on a 30km ride.
Day 10 – Departure
Visit Artisan D’Angkor, the War Museum, and Pub Street before airport transfer.
Supplementary Note
This CAS & Cycling program can be tailored to meet the requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at both Silver and Gold levels. The cycling element offers a structured and progressive challenge suitable for a Qualifying Venture, while the CAS Service project provides a meaningful community engagement opportunity.
Optional extra days can also be added to incorporate a Practice Venture prior to the Qualifying Journey, ensuring full compliance with DofE Award standards.

Cambodia Highlights
No – we provide example itienraires based on the first contact with a school and request for a specifc destination and type of programme. Once we establish the focus, number of days and other requirements, such as hotel standard, type of trsansport, food etc, we then fine tune a tailored programme that specifically meets a schools needs.
All schools will receive our terms and conditions with our first proposal. Our terms and conditions outline the payment schedule and terms of payment and cancellation. No trip is confirmed until a depsoit or full payment has been received.
The contract for any trip is between GET and the school. It is the school responsibility to liaisie with parents and students, sell the trip to parents and students and collect any payments as per our terms and conditions. It is the schools responsbility to enxure parents and students are aware of GET Terms and Condtions when promoiting a trip, and this includes payment and cancellation terms.
Our terms and contditions explain the process and period of cancellation and refund. It is important to note that once a school makes confirmation and initial deposit for a trip, comprehensive insurance cover should also be taken in the event anyone has to withdraw from the trip for various reasons which may be covered by the insurance. The period between confirmation and the actual trip dates is important to be covered fully.
Yes. All GET team members undergo background and safeguarding checks, and specialist activity providers are licensed and vetted.
Comprehensive risk assessments are conducted for every activity and location. Copies can be provided in advance for schools, and our staff review risks daily depending on weather and local conditions. Note, that schools will still required to arrange their own risk assessments in line with their own school policy and studetns attending the trip.
We request dietary requirements in advance and liaise directly with hotels/restaurants. Allergen information is communicated to catering teams, and staff monitor meals to ensure compliance. Any very specifc requirements may require addtional follow up and charge.
GET leaders carry mobile phones, satellite phones (where needed), and emergency contact numbers.
Yes. We require comprehensive travel insurance including medical cover, activity cover (e.g., trekking, rafting, skiing), and repatriation. Schools should arrange this to ensure the whole group are covered under the same policy for the trip.
This is possible and should be requested in good time prior to any trip and only once a trip has been confirmed and deposit has been paid. GET will cover costs for the visiting teacher when in country. GET will not be responsible for travel costs to and from country of visit and some meals during the trip. Site visits should normally last between 3-5 days depending on the type of trip.
