The island

Bali's neighbour, twenty years back

Lombok sits just east of Bali, and it is everything Bali was twenty years ago. Mount Rinjani rises to 3,726 m at its centre. The south-west coast is ringed with small, calm Gili islands and living coral. The south holds the surf beaches of Mandalika. And across all of it are the Sasak villages, weaving traditions and highland farming communities that give a school group something real to engage with.

Our Lombok programmes run seven days with five full activity days, delivered with our in-country partner and a private meet-and-greet from the moment you land at Lombok International Airport.

Five ways to spend the week

Snorkelling / island camp — Gili Nanggu or Gili Tangkong

Water-Sports & Island Camping

South-west Lombok · Sekotong · Gili islands

Snorkelling the calm, clear south-west Gilis — Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak and the tiny Gili Kedis — over healthy coral and reef fish, with a night camping on a near-private islet. The week also takes in orienteering and a rice-field walk at Mereje, a countryside bike ride, Sasak weaving and traditional-village culture, and a community service contribution.

Rinjani — crater rim camp or Segara Anak lake

Rinjani Hike & Culture

Mount Rinjani · Sembalun

A genuine volcano expedition. The week opens with the Senaru waterfalls and the highland Sembalun valley, climbs through savannah and montane ecology zones to the Crater Rim at 2,641 m, continues to the sacred Segara Anak crater lake, and finishes with recovery time on the coast. Strong geography, ecology and resilience outcomes.

Pergasingan hill camp — tents above the Sembalun patchwork valley

Edventure Hill Camp

Pergasingan · Sembalun

Built around a hilltop camp on Pergasingan, famous for its patchwork-valley panorama over Sembalun. The week blends a waterfall and hill hike, the Sembalun valley, a cooking class and team-building, north-coast Gili snorkelling and Sasak culture — an accessible adventure-and-culture week for groups new to expedition travel.

Surf lesson at Selong Belanak, or the beach clean-up service day

Surf & Service Camp

South Lombok · Mandalika

Progressive surf coaching from the gentle beach break at Selong Belanak through Tanjung Aan to the Gerupuk boat breaks, woven together with a community service project — beach clean-up, a plastic-pollution survey and school or community support — plus Sasak culture and a day island visit. Adventure with purpose.

Riders on a village lane or the Tetebatu rice terraces

Lombok Bike Tour

Point-to-point · Tetebatu to the coast

A point-to-point ride on quiet back roads, village lanes and easy trails — around 30 km a day, a different guesthouse each night, with a support vehicle for luggage and the longer climbs. The route runs from the Tetebatu rice terraces through the Sembalun highlands to the coast, with a Sasak village, a waterfall and a beach or island reward at the end.

Why here

What Lombok gives a school group

Quieter than Bali

Same region, a fraction of the visitors — and a lower cost base to go with it.

Real altitude

Rinjani gives a group a genuine mountain objective, not a viewpoint walk.

Water that works for beginners

The south-west Gilis are calm and shallow, so non-swimmers aren't left on the beach.

Service built in

Community projects sit inside the programmes rather than being bolted on for the brochure.
